Domain Names Still Fetching Good Money
The days may have gone when you could retire to the Caribbean by selling your domain name but .co.uk’s are still fetching really good money considering you can buy them for a couple of pounds!
Sedo, the online market place for buying and selling Internet domain names and websites, has announced that sport.co.uk has sold for £135,000. Not bad eh!
Its been bought buy Media Corporation plc, an online publishing company who run a bunch of info based sites. They want to turn the sport.co.uk into an online stats website covering historical results, articles, biographies, actual statistics and sports-related material such as photos, news, calendars and memorabilia on a wide range of sports.
Justin Drummond, CEO of Media Corporation plc, told UKLEblog: “The value of a top-tier Internet domain name combined with a profitable advertising driven business model was recently illustrated by the Group’s successful sale of casino.co.uk for up to GBP3.625 million. We are aiming to replicate this success with sport.co.uk as we continue to increase the scale and diversity of the Group’s web publishing business.”
So by the sounds of it expect sport.co.uk to be up for sale in the future at just a little bit more money.
Put your thinking cap on today and see what domains you can come up with. There’s still plenty of excellent domains still waiting to be bought. Last year I paid £4 for two domains that may sell for a heck of a lot more (unfortunately not £135K, probably £13.50!!).
Let us know if you manage to find a cracker! (cracker.co.uk already gone……)
